What is CBD and what are its benefits?

Did you know your body has an Endocannabinoid System?

Not an Ibuprofen, Xanax, or Zoloft System…

The human body is equipped with cannabinoid receptors located throughout the body and they are involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of the 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. There are a lot of benefits to taking CBD as you can learn ahead. Cannabidiol can be taken into the body in multiple ways, including by inhalation of cannabis smoke or vapor, as an aerosol spray into the cheek, and by mouth.

What can CBD help with?

Inflammation and chronic pain:

CBD reduces the activity of the inflammatory process, inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory substances in the body, according to scientific information on CBD research. Cannabidiol has found validity in pathologies where pain is a constant, such as rheumatic problems, rheumatoid arthritis or Fibromyalgia. The Canadian Society for Pain has already included the use of cannabidiol in therapeutic approaches.

Depression and Anxiety:

According to research, CBD generates a significant reduction in symptoms associated with anxiety and has antidepressant action. Scientific information explains that cannabidiol acts on 5HT1A receptors, located in the brain and essential for the effect, for example, of antidepressant drugs.

Dementia and Alzheimer's:

Researchers say that CBD has antioxidant and neuroprotective properties beneficial in preventing aging at the brain level, a situation that can trigger Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and memory loss. According to the same sources, cannabidiol has a strong neuroprotective action against free radicals and shows evidence in reducing the damage caused by the accumulation of Beta Amyloid protein, the main constituent of the plaques that accumulate in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.

The studies also show that CBD attenuates the depletion of tyrosine, dopamine and GABA, a determinant factor in Parkinson’s disease, which is characterized by neuronal degeneration and reduction of dopamine levels.

Type I Diabetes:

Tests were performed to reduce lymphocyte activation and improve functional capillary density, resulting in reduced inflammation and better microcirculation. The researchers say that by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory substances, cannabidiol leads to a significant decrease in the mechanisms of inflammation of the pancreas. Type I diabetes can result in complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, vasculitis, etc.

Cancer:

Various tests performed so far demonstrate that CBD stimulates the programmed processes of cell death (apoptosis) and inhibits the proliferation of abnormal cells in various cancer cases. Cannabidiol has demonstrated the ability to inhibit the growth of related malignant cells in lung adenocarcinoma and has demonstrated anti-proliferative, anti-metastatic, anti-angiogenic and pro-apoptosis action in lung cancer, breast cancer and lymphomas.
